AP on it’s way up.

Work on a Wireless access point in Merredin has started for the beginning of a CWN (community wireless network) located near the main street and looking into getting a second AP located at the north side of town with a 50 to 100 mb/s link between them.

Why do all this?
Well in doing this we are aiming to set up a Merredin wide network, Much the same as in you home with the possibilities of linking many networkable devices from PC to game consoles  but with out access to the internet.

What are the benefits?
Well  basically the network will have what the community of the  wireless network puts into it, many of us out there would look at steaming things over the network and possible voip and chat system to be on the network.
More common things on the network would be Multiplayer computer games, sharing of files, possible team speak server and much more.
Multiplayer Xbox  is also a big network thing, Many people do not keep a subscription to Microsoft’s Xbox Live as it becomes costly over time, With the WCN you wouldn’t  have to have a subscription service and multiplayer would be free providing the game is network multiplayer compatible.

I’ve already got the internet why would I use this?
Well This is free once connected with out any ongoing fee’s, obligations, disconnection fee’s or going over download limit fee’s.
You get unlimited downloads and uploads, the speed is only limited to the quality of your wireless connection to one of the access points.
Speeds are much faster than that of current available internet speeds  in Merreidn.

So how much?
Well final figures are trying to be worked out and also may vary on you distance from a access point but it is estimated you could be connected for around $355 for the equipment at the following link WCN Equipment we are looking for cheaper options and different setups like for example people who are able to mount there router under a roof and have the antenna just on the roof top would not need the water proof housing or mount brackets.
But remember this is a one of fee and you own all the equipment 100%
